May 12, 2010
One year, 5 countries, 43 posts, 338 comments, and 12,187 hits from 90 countries and territories later…
…it’s still an enriching experience. The rewards I have gleaned from this blog are three-fold:
The blog has taught me to see beyond the touristy circumstances of my trips with a traveler’s eyes. As Gilbert Keith Chesterton succinctly put it, “The traveler sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see.” I hope I have become more of the former and less of the latter.
It has also hooked me up with a motley crew of readers and fellow bloggers from around the world. They have become my virtual travel buddies on this global cyber highway.
And finally, it has aroused my then-dormant love for writing. Part of the excitement of each trip is the anticipation of writing about it! This is when I metaphysically revisit each place to distill every personal experience, every morsel of memory, every piece of information into an entry for posterity.
And so to our first anniversary, my beloved blog:
May you have more posts about more places and countries, more hits and comments from more like-minded people.

Thanks for reading! If you like my content, you may…
Thanks Spydey! You’re one of my travel idols! I’m not nearly as well-traveled as you are, but I feel we are kindred spirits. Keep on traveling, brother, because I travel vicariously through you. 🙂
What an overwhelming introduction!!!!! Amen! 🙂
Overwhelming words from someone who barely reads me! 🙂
You will be never dormant in your writing as long as you are a teacher! Keep posting so we will be updated and continue to read your blog. Thanks AJ
Thanks to YOU, Inno! My writing is like Mt Pinatubo that was dormant for 600 years and then one day it just exploded like hell. Hahahaha.
Loving it!
Better write a bit more frequently.
Joy always,
Susan
Sorry, Susan. I’m afraid I can’t be as prolific as the peeps in Blogplicity. I’m a lazy blogger. I can’t imagine writing and posting even on a weekly basis! Writing drains my neurons. Haha! Oh well, I can try. That could be my birthday present for my baby blog when it turns 2 in May.
Well, glad that the blog is atleast living and not comatose.
Hope there are atleast ten posts before the D-day.
Joy always,
Susan
Hi AJ. I’m glad I ran into your blog. You do make good use of your time (travelling) and talent (writing). I enjoy reading your posts, and wow, wish I could come up with such catchy post titles. I had to add you to my blog roll. 🙂 Keep on wandering and writing!
Well, the feeling is mutual cuz I wish I came up with the blog title “Wander If You Must”. Just love it! Conveys the necessity of travel, not just some whim or luxury. And you’ve been to so many exotic places (exotic for me means places I might not even get to see in my lifetime!). Blogrollin’ you as well. Welcome to our mutual admiration club!
Opps! Click by chance! Seeing you 10 years younger wow!
And 10 lbs ago! Hahaha! I can’t believe my blog will be 12 years old next year. I’ll have a teenager soon. 🙂
